We’ve all used Grindr and experienced the REALLY obvious fake accounts.

But Gridnr bots are fast becoming more believable and sophisticated, with reports of users (particularly in the UK) being lured onto malware infected websites from dodgy links.

The usual scenario is:
1. Profile with good looking profile pic starts up a convo
2. It’s pretty tame chit-chat to begin with
3. Convo moves onto the profile’s “really nice dick”
4. BAM! An infected link is sent with the promise of revealing photos

The auto-conversation is not designed to pick up unusual topics, such as:

LOL. Grindr says it is aware of the issue and does all it can to block fake accounts. The advice? Be smart and don’t fall for the good-looking idiots.
